I personally was under the impression that LyX (xforms) was abandoned in favor of the KLyX (Qt) project. In my own limited experience, KLyX is a LOT easier to use than LyX was...
PS For me personally, the switch to gcc 2.95.2 and thus to one single compiler would be worth it, but of cause YMMV :)
I agree. That's certainly a great step forward.
