Hi, I have an Acer Centrino laptop running SuSE 9.1 Pro. It includes an Intel 2200B/G wireless card, which is in fact not recognized (eth1 device: Intel Corp.: Unknown device 4220 (rev 05)), but works flaw- lessly with the ipw2200 driver/firmware. I assume that the device should be added manually to the database hwinfo has; any advice would be appreciated which file should be modified and how. I know that it's a minor issue, because the device itself is OK, but... Thank you, Pelibali

Being as I'm a newbie, I'd suggest that's your problem right there. WiFi support was abysimmal under 9.1, got better under 9.2, and finally achieved some level of maturity under 9.3. Seeing as how you can get the full version for free under 10.1, and that security patches for 9.1 are discontinued, I'd highly recommend an upgrade. WiFi support under 10.1 still isn't up to the level of XP or MacOSX, but it works much better than under 9.1.

Yeah, the 2200B/G - which I have on both my laptops - is easily regonzied by 9.3 and later. There should be no problem configuring it. -- Kai Ponte www.perfectreign.com

I have to agree with PerfectReign, I think it is the outdated version of SUSE that you are using which is causing the problems. My Acer Centrino notebook worked fine with 10.0 (although the generic radeon drivers had problems with the X700 chipset and non-VESA display). 10.0/10.1 work fine, they even allowed me to set up a connection to my WPA-PSK secured wireless network during the install process. -- David Wright Wright Information Services Europa "I got to go figure," the tenant said.
