AIC7xxx - scsi : aborting command due to timeout since SuSE 7.1
Can somebody help please : Since SuSE 7.1 i have some major problems with my adaptec 2940U2W + HP Scanjet 5P. The scanner doesn't want to work anymore and i get following messages : Mar 4 14:52:16 penguin kernel: i2c-core.o: i2c core module Mar 4 14:52:16 penguin kernel: i2c-algo-bit.o: i2c bit algorithm module Mar 4 14:52:16 penguin insmod: /lib/modules/2.4.0-4GB/kernel/drivers/media/video/bttv.o: init_module: No such device Mar 4 14:52:16 penguin insmod: /lib/modules/2.4.0-4GB/kernel/drivers/media/video/bttv.o: insmod char-major-81 failed Mar 4 14:53:24 penguin kernel: scsi : aborting command due to timeout : pid 0, scsi0, channel 0, id 2, lun 0 Read (6) 00 00 80 00 00 Mar 4 14:53:24 penguin kernel: scsi : aborting command due to timeout : pid 0, scsi0, channel 0, id 2, lun 0 Read (6) 00 00 80 00 00 Mar 4 14:53:26 penguin kernel: SCSI host 0 abort (pid 0) timed out - resetting The hardware didn't change, besides : windhoze works fine with the hardware on the same machine. I allso tried to disable "enable disconnection" on the 2940. Did the aic7xxx-driver change ? SUSE-people ????? Hi Franky, I've got the same 2940 U2W and have no scsi errors on 2.4-boot. This is why I think the AIC7xxxx didn't change. Have a look at 0:2 identity. Is it your scanner ? cat /proc/scsi/aic7xxx/0 I think it's scanner related and as I don't have a scsi scanner can't help you there. Cheers, Filip. Franky, I don't know if it will be of any help, but I saw something on the http://portal.suse.com under "SuSE Support News" on the 2940. I guess I need to look into this since I have one. HTH, Steve
