KDE 2.2 wants libsoundserver, hence no sound
The kdelibs package in the SuSE version of KDE 2.2 includes the program knotify, which is called as part of the kde startup procedures. However, it can't be found: kio (KLauncher): KLauncher: Got kdeinit_exec('artswrapper', ...) knotify: error while loading shared libraries: libsoundserver_idl.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory I think I have the latest and greatest version of kdelibs: pwa@suillus:~/tmp > rpm -qf $(which knotify) kdelibs-2.2.0-25 pwa@suillus:~/tmp > ldd $(which knotify) knotify.so => /opt/kde2//lib/knotify.so (0x40018000) libsoundserver_idl.so.0 => not found libkmedia2_idl.so.0 => not found libartsflow.so.0 => not found libaudiofile.so.0 => /usr/lib/libaudiofile.so.0 (0x40039000) ... A search of the SuSE archives revealed that the kde2.1 version of kdelibs includes libsoundserver, but now I cannot find any package that includes it. Does anyone know where it is, or how I can avoid the need for it? Paul
