IP forwarding/masquerading problem in OpenSUSE 10.0
I have two computers with ethernet cards connected to each other by a cross-over cable. The first computer is connected to the internet by modem (dynamic IP's for computer and gateway). The LAN is configured with static IP's: 192.168.0.1/24 for the gateway (IP forwarding and masquerading enabled, as well as the DNS servers of the external connection), 192.168.0.2/24 for the client (DNS servers also set). Unfortunately the client cannot even ping outside my LAN. Following the instructions at /usr/share/doc/SuSEfirewall2.html, I created my own /etc/sysconfig/SuSefirewall2 containing the lines: FW_DEV_EXT="modem0" (as in the original file) FW_DEV_INT="eth0" FW_ROUTE="yes" FW_MASQUERADE="yes" FW_MASQ_NETS="192.168.0.0/24" The client still refuses to ping an external computer or open some site. However, if I start Windows on the gateway, the client sees everything! Am I missing something or is this a SuSEfirewall2 bug? Konstantinos Tampouris

What does "cat /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward" say? /Per Jessen, Zürich
