thunderbird html.part on desktop
Hi, because here is some diskussion about thunderbird, i have also a thunderbird question: since about end of last year tumbleweed update, i notice, if i move an attachment from one mail to another SOMETIMES i see for a short time on my desktop something like: qegbhjj.html.part. on my machine it's automatically removed. on another machine, i did not personally use, from thunderbird, or maybe from firefox after a day of work one or two of this files are still on the desktop. so my question is, did anybody know why this happens and where i could switch the behavior to do the temporary file not on desktop, better place would be tmp file directory? simoN -- www.becherer.de

thunderbird (or something in mozilla) is using your ~/Desktop folder as a temporary folder. It shouldn't do that. Now why that happens is another issue. There may be some setting in your desktop or user config that has ~/Desktop set as the tmp file folder. It's harmless but annoying as you will see temporary file operation come and go on your desktop. I'd pick (grep) through your various configs and see if you can find where "tmp" or "temp" settings are and see if any stick out as being what mozilla would use. You may also check the thunderbird config editor and search on "tmp" or "temp" or "Desktop" and see if there are any internal thunderbird setting that cause this. Hopefully others will have an exact answer, all I can tell you is what I would do if I had the issue. -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.
