Booting with a disk from A: works and the config.sys and autoexec.bat just don't have much inside.
i assume this a dos/w3.1 system check to see if msdos.sys and io.sys are in the root dir of c: do a c:\ dir /ap if they are there then do the following, add fdisk to the boot disk, if its not there already, then boot with the disk, once your up type fdisk /mbr. looks like you have bad mbr ., config.sys and autoexec.boat look ok andy sent by andy peerand using recyled protons ... Thank you all very much for the replys I got! I might have found the missing link, the MB battery. As I did a cold reboot I noticed that ther was a CMOS error - loading defaults CMOS - Battery failure It wasnt there before, but it might got so far that if faded out as it had past the CMOS check or something being flaky, but now just got below the level... I will get a new battery to it and see what that do. Otherwise it obviously is something with the MBR or boot system drivers. Thank you again all! Joakim PS. Hope put Windoze behind me then...:) andy peerand wrote:

It has nothing to do with "MBR nor boot system drivers"... You get that message when you make changes to your BIOS setup, save changes and reboot. In case of low battery: take it out and hit it several times with a hammer or something (try not to deform it), then put it back --> it might work another couple of months until you get the new one. -alexm ------ This message is sent in compliance of the new e-mail bill: SECTION 301, Paragraph (a)(2)(C) of s. 1618 - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e
