Anyone know if 7.0 /7.1 (when it comes) Kernals have Framebuffer support included?

I looked in SuSE 7.0's webpage and searched and get a "nothing found". My new Dell Inspiron 8000 will be ok if so, as I can get drivers for everything but Video and video will work if framebuffer support is in the kernal. I also note that Xfree will have 4.0.2 at full release by christmas, I suppose it's too late for 7.1 but 7.2???. <p>thanks in advance. csijon

The SuSE kernel in 7.0 does support vesafb by default. Just add the correct kernel parameter to LILO. This is what I use: # grep vga /etc/lilo.conf vga=0x305 This gives my 1024x768@16bpp on bootup, which might be OK for your Laptop as well.

Of course it would be nice to have 4.0.2, but it is not foreseeable yet. Remeber, that we have to run a beta test before we can create a distribion. And according to Murphy, all cool packages will have updated versions before the distribution is ready. At some point we have to freeze the code to make testing possible in a reasonable fashion.
