Are there Mplayer rpms available for SuSE. I was told that this application rocks. I was mailed the url of the mplayer homepage, but I don't not have it with now :(

no, there are no mplayer binaries/rpms. Check the homepage for reasons why. (do a google search (www.google.com) on mplayer linux video and it's bound to be one of the top 10 hits.
