Soundblaster 16 configuration
I just installed 7.3 on my machine that has a SB16 ISA card that has run quite well under RH 6.2 and 7.1, so I am loathe to use others. But it is now giving me fits under 7.3. I have always used the kernel drivers, but it appears that SuSE prefers the ALSA drivers, and so I have tried. And anyone give me tips, or should I go PCI? -- Rob Blomquist Kirkland, WA On the side of the software box, in the 'System Requirements' section, it said 'Requires Windows XP or better'. So I installed Linux!
Yast2 or alsaconf should autodetect your card for ALSA. To use the kernel drivers, comment the alsa lines in modules.conf and uncomment the lines for the kernel drivers. Rob Blomquist wrote:

I have a SB 16 ISA, and I don't use ALSA drivers, I compiled it into the kernel, is you are using 2.2.x you give the parameters in the kernel configurations, and if you are using 2.4.x you need to pass the parameters in the LILO, I'm using 2.4, with the option SB in YES and my lilo is: append="sb=0x220,5,1,5" boot=/dev/hda #compact # faster, but won't work on all systems. vga=ask read-only -- www.geekcode.com -----BEGIN GEEK CODE BLOCK----- Version: 3.1 GCS/cc/e/it d++ s+:+ a-- C++$ UL+++$ E++ W+++$ w--- O---- M V- PS PE+++ Y+ PGP- t+ 5 X++ R tv+ b++ DI-- D+ G e++$ h! r++ y++ ------END GEEK CODE BLOCK------ - A veces creo que hay vida en otros planetas, y a veces creo que no.
