Hi Bob, My general recommendation / experience is that it might help to run rpm --rebuilddb once before continuing with updating. Helped me with some kde-updates in the 2.1 ages (now I'm too lazy to dl all new kde-packages and am staying with the stock 2.2.1 from SuSE 7.3). Hope that helps ... * Bob B (n1uan@bridgenettn.com) [011223 01:57]: ->three times now i try to update the glibc-1 rpm and each time after it ->get done downloading it said rpm error does anyone know if anything is ->wrong with this rpm as the rest seem to install ok but this one ->thanks! My recommendation is to do it the old fashion way. Download these files from the ftp site: glibc-2.2.4-64.i386.rpm glibc-devel-2.2.4-64.i386.rpm glibc-html-2.2.4-64.i386.rpm glibc-i18ndata-2.2.4-64.i386.rpm glibc-info-2.2.4-64.i386.rpm glibc-profile-2.2.4-64.i386.rpm Then as root start up YaST1 and install them. After startup : 1. Package Manangement 2. Install Packages 3. Hit enter twice so that the blue dialog box moves right 4. Put the path to your RPM's in the blue dialog box to the right. 5. Hit enter 6. When you see the directory and the RPM's displayed..move your arrow key down to highlight them. Hit your spacebar so that there is an X in next to them as such [X]. Once all 6 are tagged for installation. Hit F10..let them install. The Esc out of YaST and let it run the update script SuSEconfig. After YaST is finished..so be safe reboot. This should be very easy. It took me 10 minutes to install them this way. I guess I'm just stuck doing it the old fashion way. I've NEVER used YOU...can't say that click, click and click appeal to me personally.. :) Cheers! -----=====-----=====-----=====-----=====----- Ben Rosenberg mailto:ben@whack.org -----=====-----=====-----=====-----=====----- I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...
