I have some files that contain [Desktop Entry] descriptions for KDE. They are shown as ICONS on the desktop. Some have the extension .desktop, and some do not. All seems to work in an identical fashion. My question: Is there any good reason, from the pov of KDE, to have the .desktop extension?
