SUSE 8.1 I'm trying to build gtk 2.2.1. When I run configure, I get the following error: checking for glib-2.0 >=3D 2.1.4 atk >=3D 1.0.1 pango >=3D 1.0.1... Package glib-2.0=20 was not found in the pkg-config search path. Perhaps you should add the directory containing `glib-2.0.pc' to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable No package 'glib-2.0' found However... when I run locate, I see the following files in /usr/lib: =09libglib-2.0.so.0 libglib-2.0.so.0.0.6 which I'm guessing is glib 2.0. This brings up 2 questions for you guru's: (1) Am I right that these 2 files have the library I'm looking for? (2) If so, how do I get the system to recognize them? tia -- Penguins eat butterflies, don't they?

Add the directory containing the .pc file for glib-2.0 (mine is glib-2.0.pc) to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH var. Ie, if the .pc file is in /usr/lib/pkgconfig (that's where mine is on SuSE 8.1): export PKG_CONFIG_PATH=/usr/lib/pkgconfig Not sure if those are the libs you need, but it looks like they may be. -- John LeMay KC2KTH Senior Enterprise Consultant NJMC | http://www.njmc.com | Phone 732-557-4848 Specializing in Microsoft and Unix based solutions

My problem may be deeper than I thought, then. According to locate, I don't have a glib-2.0.pc file anywhere on my system. I just went to Yast2 and checked, glib and glib2 are checked as installed, but the libraries aren't here. Do you have any suggestions of how to correct this? (Also, thanks for the help. You seem to bail me out frequently). ---Michael -- Penguins eat butterflies, don't they?

You need the gtk-devel rpms. -- use Perl; #powerful programmable prestidigitation
