Hi, I just got the SuSE after being a slakware user for couple of years and I am really impressed by the very rich variety of packages included in the distribution. I tried to move my working system on the newly installed SuSE 5.1 and more or less it was successful. I am not done yet but there is a problem I faced and solved it in a way that I didn't like myself :). Well the PC has two ethernet cards and as you know SuSE is a bit different from slakware when it comes to the rc scripts that are being executed during the boot time. I included both of the IP addresses in the /etc/rc.config file as pointed and I also entered the static routes that I need in the /etc/route.conf too. But when booting the ifconfig does initialize only the eth0 and that's why the /sbin/route command produces bunch of errors since ifconfig has not brought up the second ethernet at all. As far as I read in the few documentation that I had the chance so far it is said that defining the interfaces in the /etc/rc.config is enough but unfortunately it doesn't work :(. So I entered a very custop line in the /sbin/network script that is bringing up the second ethernet too. and then it all works fine. Does it have to be that way or am I doing something wrong. Or does it have to do anything with the new bash? And if so how shall I change the /sbin/network script to match the requirements. Any help is greatly appreciated :) Thanks in advance and have a nice day. Ural -- To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e
