I am wondering if anyone has any advice on compatible still cameras or quickcams for Linux. Most of these seem to connect to USB and that is one thing I have never even tried using. I understand USB support is kind of limited. Actually, the best one that I've heard of is a Philips USB model. The modules are binary-only, but it's supposed to be the fastest/highest-quality unit on the market. The module author liked the camera so much that he decided to sign the NDAs with Philips so that other people could enjoy the camera, too ;). -- -=|JP|=- Jon Pennington | Atipa Linux Solutions -o) jpennington@atipa.com | http://www.atipa.com /\\ Kansas City, MO, USA | 816-241-2641 x121 _\_V 6D04 39E0 CAE9 9ADA 2CA3 2EBE 898A 6C37 CA1E A29C -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/

I would second that choice of Philips cameras. Out of the Logitech camera and the Philips that we have in our family, the Philips comes out way ahead. That's not to say I don't like Logitech products though - they make excellent keyboards and mice, for example. Don't get a quick cam pro! Don't get any cam by logictech, they are no good. Connectix quickcam color and b&w should work, pro doesn't work. The Creative labs web blaster II (usb && parport) are both supported (III isn't supported), and have seen the parport one work first hand. Search google.com for more information, I don't have the link of hand, I will try to send the link when I am at my home workstation.
