[opensuse] can I use gnucash in opensuse?
For financial management. this is what I tried. 1. "Computer" -> "More Applications", gnucash is not found there; 2. "Computer" -> "gnucash" as keyword and search. zero matching; 3. Make sure both oss and non-oss online repository are enabled. "Software management" -> search "gnucash" in "Available" section, 0 results; 4. Make sure both oss and non-oss online repository are enabled. "Software management" -> search "gnucash" in "Installed" section, 1 result: gnucash-docs. But that is not the package "gnucash" itself. Thanks in advance! Can you be specific (e.g. give instructions) in reply emails? That would be more helpful for stupid users like me. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

The OpenSUSE Build Service Software Search can help you find any package for openSUSE. Here's the link to get gnucash: http://software.opensuse.org/search?baseproject=openSUSE%3A11.1&p=1&q=gnucash Just use the 1-Click Install Button, and all will be good. If that doesn't work, download the manual package and install it. I suggest you use the second listing, as it is newer... Thanks for the suggestion. When I click the link, I got: "Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system". I don't know how to "close existing Firefox process" so I'll simply restart my computer. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Following your link I think I find the reason. The gnucash package is only offered for x86 and x86_64 while I am using an iBook. I guess that means trying to install it from package repository isn't working. I will need to download & compile the software myself, right? I don't see a reason why gnucash shouldn't be available on ppc (especially I used it on ppc before), I guess it's simply someone didn't build rpm for ppc yet. Hope the package maintainer do me & others a favor to add ppc binary to the repository. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

No that's not the case! I also find all other packages only offered 586 and x86_64, even if the package I am currently already using. e.g. right now I am using GIMP to capture screenshots, but http://software.opensuse.org/ told me only 586 and x86_64 version are available. Could it be like this? That the online repository only offer 586 and x86_64 and I have to install everything ppc from the installation DVD? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

tried 5 times, not successful: [|] Error trying to read from 'http://powerpc.opensuse.org/distribution/11.1/repo/oss//' - Timeout exceed i guess this is because the connection isn't fast, but visit the repository with Firefox works just fine. So I think if I could only make timeout longer it would work. Do you think? How? Not sure which release you're running but gnucash is on the install DVD. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
