For awhile I haven't been able to boot via init 3 into console mode, nor to a login while in KDE. I get a "Error in service module" when I attempt to login with either my user account or root. Is there a way to fix this? I've not been able to find one, if there is. Thanks! Fred -- MickySoft, the ultimate corporate parasite.

I fixed this by... createing a file called lastlog in /var/log (as root) Then running "Sax2 -r"
* a simple 'touch /var/log/lastlog' (no quotes)
At the grub boot menu, if you issue 'init=/bin/bash' (no quotes) and hit 'Enter' you'll land in a shell with root permissions so you can try these.
Good luck!
Thanks, Carl! I give it a try! Fred -- MickySoft, the ultimate corporate parasite.

Hi Fred,
I Googled "SUSE Linux Error in service module" and found a few threads
offering two explanations/solutions:
...in SUSE 10.1 that means that in the file /etc/pam.d/login the 3 last lines are wrong. Please comment out these 3 last lines and everything will work fine.
This worked! Thanks, Fred -- MickySoft, the ultimate corporate parasite.

Hi Fred,
I Googled "SUSE Linux Error in service module" and found a few threads
offering two explanations/solutions:
...in SUSE 10.1 that means that in the file /etc/pam.d/login the 3 last lines are wrong. Please comment out these 3 last lines and everything will work fine.
This worked! Thanks,
