Upgrade Gnome 2.6 to 2.12 - HowTo Anywhere?

Gnome newbie (used to run KDE mostly) with SuSE 9.2 and box stock Gnome 2.6, except I installed Red Carpet to upgrade Evolution to 2.2.3. Now I'd like to try upgrading Gnome to 2.12. I tried doing it the same way that I have successfully upgraded KDE in the past: Add the appropriate Supplementary tree as a YaST source; Install/Remove software; select zzzall; all in this list > update if newer version available. I was met with a torrent of rpm conflicts, so I Googled for a HowTo but came up empty. I went to James Ogley's wonderful usr-local-bin ftp site and found that the directories went from 9.1 to 9.3. Not a good sign... Any ideas on how best to do this? Thanks! Mark -- _________________________________________________________ A Message From... L. Honestly, I wouldn't try it, if I were you. I have tried upgrading to new versions of Gnome in SuSE since 9.0 (I've bought every release since) and it almost never works. If you seriously want to use Gnome 2.12, I would recommend that you simply download the latest Ubuntu, get SuSE 10.0, or simply stick with KDE.
