I attempted to install SuSE 8.0 Pro to my computer last weekend, and all copied OK, but on reboot, I got either a LILO error 80 or repeating LILO error 01. System: Tyan S2360 dual Athlon MP 1600+ 1 GB DDR RAM 4 Hard Drives: -80 GB Maxtor (ATA 133) on Maxtor (ATA 133 IDE Card Master1) -60 GB Maxtor (ATA 133) on Maxtor (ATA 133 IDE Card Slave1) -40 GB Maxtor (ATA 133) on Maxtor (ATA 133 IDE Card Master2) -60 GB Western Digital (ATA 100) on Tyan MB controler Master1 VisionTek GeForce3 Ti200 SoundBlaster Audigy 3Com 56-bit Encryption 10/100 NIC Maxtor ATA 133 IDE Controler Card Creative Labs 16x DVD-ROM Plextor (40x12x40A) CD-RW External US Robotics Voice/Fax Modem (56K/V.90) NEC FE700 (17" CRT) I have Win2K on the 80GB HD, and attempted installation to the 60 GB Western Digital, since that was the only HD SuSE saw. I installed from the DVD, and selected a Floppy boot disk Any idea on how I can successfully complete installation?

I have Win2K on the 80GB HD, and attempted installation to the 60 GB Western Digital, since that was the only HD SuSE saw. I installed I could be wrong but I am almost certain that the problem is the same as what you get when mixing SCSI and IDE. I believe it is because of the order that the bios assigns to the various drives on multiple controllers. For me SuSE installed just fine but it won't boot because of this problem. The solution is in the SuSE manual in the chapter for configuring LILO, under the section for disk=. To fix this, you will have to boot with a rescue disk, edit the
