missing dependency in kde2.1 suse-7.0 rpms
While installing kde-2.1 on a suse-7.0 system I got the following error during the installation of kdelibs (rpm -Uvh kdelibs-2...) : missing libaudio... I know that these libraries are part of kdesupport, but they are not in there (at least rpm -qlp kdesupport-2 did not show it). Does this require a new version of kdesupport for suse-7.0? -- Richard Bos For those who have no (/)home the journey is endless

No one else encountered this problem?? Can somebody from Suse comment on this please? I used the ftp sire (sourceforge) that was mentioned in kde's release messagge, I can't quote it here as there site is down now :( -- Richard Bos For those who have no (/)home the journey is endless

I have not attempted 2.1 on 7.0. I have been suffering with borken sound for quite some time now. (and the saga continues.) The 2.1 betas never supported sound on my system. If you don't care about sound you can simply do an rpm -U --nodeps (I think that'll do it, and you probably already know this.) HTH, Steve

I gave up on trying to get SuSE (Alsa) to recognize my 6 year old version of Yamaha OPL3-SA chips setting on my motherboard. So, I bought a $20 OSS license back in 1998 and have a 5 year FREE upgrade. I downloaded their new 'universal' version, good for both 2.2.x and 2.4.x and installed it. It works beautifully. JLK
