Ok, CD configure and running properly in ide-scsi, but no aic7xxx
I have gotten both my cdrecorder and cdrom to work properly under ide-scsi. I added the boot appends "sg, aic7xxx, hdc=ide-scsi (recorder), hdd=ide-scsi(cdrom). I have tried various modules.conf configs, and boot perameters, I have even added the aic7xxx kernel support using "make symlinks dep" using the kcontrol kernel configurator as root. Unfortunately, I have notice that before I started to add the ide-scsi options and get them functional the aic7xxx mod and the zip drive was assigned to "scsi0" and at one time, when both the cdrecorder and zip was loaded, I had the zip under "scsi0" and the cdrecorder under "scsi1". but when I got the cdrecorder running correctly the zip went bye-bye and the recorder assume the "scsi0" location. As I said earlier, I continued to get the cdrom and cdrecorder running under the ide-scsi correctly by loading the "sg" mod as a boot parameter and then created the correct symlinks. But I still unable to get the "aic7xxx" mod to load unless manually loading with modprobe or insmod from a console. Any help to finally get all the devices to load properly will be greatly appreciated. TIA, Curtis

I would suggest removing the sg and aic7xxx from the lilo append line, and adding aic7xxx and ide-scsi to the initrd_modules line in rc.config (via yast) IN THAT ORDER, then run mk_initrd, then run lilo. I have found by trial (OK error) that initrd loads modules in the order it is listed in yast (i.e. it reversed my eth0 and eth1 because of the order I had entered the modules in rc.config). I don't have the scsi controller in my computer, so the alias scsi_hostadapter line in modules.conf may need both modules. It appears to me it is loading ide-scsi first, making your ATAPI cds scsi0 (and maybe locking out the 'real' scsi controller from scsi0. Just a thought. YMMV. ;) -- Joe & Sesil Morris New Tribes Mission Email Address: Joe_Morris@ntm.org Web Address: www.mydestiny.net/~joe_morris "All I have seen teaches me to trust the Creator for all I have not seen." --Ralph Waldo Emerson

I have had that problem also. It was solved by changing lilo.conf: [..] image=/boot/vmlinuz_24 initrd=/boot/initrd_24 read-only label=linux_new root=/dev/hda6 [..] I added the initrd line Kees <-> Gateway Information.
