[opensuse] Help Please - Linux-based Home Theater PC System
Hi! I am going to build Linux-based Home Theater PC System (so called HTPC) with SuSe 11.0 and MythTV. The only problem so far is too get ATX case with cool design worth standing along with hi-fi audio system. I found very nice aluminium case by Inter-tech Germany (http://www.inter-tech.de), click on UK icon to switch to English language, and then Products -> Cases -> HTPC's. They have cases I like, with touch-screen LCDs or 2-lines VFD, IR remote control and large set (10 pcs) of front buttons. Software is bundled for Windows only (SoundGraph iMon Median). I suppose that Inter-tech is not original manufacturer of these cases and media hardware, these items manufactured in China with standard industry electronic components. So there is the most interesting question - how to get these features (touchscreen LCD or VFD Diasplay, front buttons and IR remote control) to work with Linux and MythTV? Thanks in advance for any suggestion(s). -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Maybe here is a start: http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/Imon -- Tony Alfrey tonyalfrey@earthlink.net "I'd Rather Be Sailing" -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Wow.. nice cases. I didn't go so fancy withmyMythTV setup. I went with a simple Asus P2 case. Has none of the toys like the HTPC cases. It would be interesting - at least to me - to know how you progress using the HTPC case... if you go that route. I suggest you have a read of this review before committing to a case. The biggest problem is fan noise and a lot of the cases have small fans which are extremely noisy. http://www.silentpcreview.com/article591-page1.html -- Regards, Graham Smith -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I can't help with your component issues, but I thought you might be interested to know that the August Linux Journal has an article on building a myth-tv HTPC cheaply. You might find it interesting. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
