[opensuse] I appear to have lost my thunderbird settings ?
After a crash yesterday, thunderbird came up and suggested I set up a new email account - I have 3 accounts defined, but they were gone. I checked the .thunderbird directory, also checked the backup, all looks good. There must be something, somewhere that tells TB which profile to use? -- Per Jessen, Zürich (15.9°C) http://www.hostsuisse.com/ - virtual servers, made in Switzerland. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

XFS?
Nope, JFS. I've also looked at .thunderbird/<random>.default and compared to the backup, looks good too. I'll try starting TB with strace next to see what he looks at. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (16.8°C) http://www.hostsuisse.com/ - dedicated server rental in Switzerland. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Hi Basil If TB had picked up my settings, that would work. TB seems to ignore my settings. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (18.0°C) http://www.hostsuisse.com/ - dedicated server rental in Switzerland. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Recovery http://kb.mozillazine.org/Recovering_a_profile_that_suddenly_disappeared likely leads to the answer if it doesn't include it. Thanks Felix, that sounds _exactly_ like has happened here. Yep, that was a life-saver, I needed to restore prefs.js. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (19.3°C) http://www.hostsuisse.com/ - virtual servers, made in Switzerland. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I tried that too, which gave me a window with one profile, the default. When I chose it, I was back to "Would you like to set up an email account?". -- Per Jessen, Zürich (20.1°C) http://www.dns24.ch/ - free dynamic DNS, made in Switzerland. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

ls .thunderbird show (for me) only one file: profiles.ini, with (zfter adding a test account) [General] StartWithLastProfile=1 [Profile0] Name=default IsRelative=1 Path=0inn2ea1.default Default=1 [Profile1] Name=test IsRelative=1 Path=qqkqja88.test I guess you can add profiles there ior simply add your profile name jdd -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

It's not about search technique. It's about having been using mozilla.org FOSS since the beginning of time, knowing that questions about its products are in most cases most efficiently answered either directly on mozilla.org, or on mozillazine.org. -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive."
