[opensuse] Synaptics touchpad, how to get rid of
Hi list, - I've got a laptop with SuSE10.2 and this stupid touchpad, a synaptics thing. I want to switch it off. I tried commenting it out in /etc/X11/xorg.conf, but it seems to driven by somthing so low (a module somewhere) that this was not enough. - any ideas as to how to kill it? -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Med venlig hilsen/Best regards Verner Kjærsgaard -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Is it present in /etc/X11/xorg.conf ? If yes, comment it out; put # sign as a first in line. -- Regards, Rajko. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

in a console-window: "synclient TouchpadOff=1" to switch it off and "synclient TouchpadOff=0" to switch it on again. Runs here fine with OpenSUSE 10.2 and a Toshiba. HTH, Jens -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

If you know that it is a synaptics touchpad, you can look in its manual: "man synaptics". There you can find the "TouchpadOff"-option, which can be set at runtime with synclient. regards, Jens -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

In my work Dell notebook, that's done in the BIOS settings. -- Use OpenOffice.org <http://www.openoffice.org> -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
