Hi to everyone .... I would like to know if one (I for example) can open a mailing list on yahoo-smart-whatever Groups on SUSE and publish it's presence on the wiki pages ... Also, can I use the (open)SUSE name in the list name ? Thanks in advance! -- .~. Hello Nicola, just a line to tell you that it would be nice to have an italian mailing list connected in some way with the wiki pages on opensuse. Let's see what the opensuse team tell us... ;) Greetings, Alle 18:45, mercoledì 1 febbraio 2006, Nicola -kOoLiNuS- Losito ha scritto:

The opensuse team asks the opensuse mailing list what they think about it ;-) Wouldn't it be nicer to have an opensuse-it@opensuse.org mailing list? I'll put it on the agenda for the next meeting. Sonja -- Sonja Krause-Harder (skh@suse.de) Research & Development SUSE Linux Products GmbH

Yes Sonja ... indeed it would be cool ..... I've asked here because I don't know *directly* any other italian guy who would be interested in the list, and having seen that in many years the "request" was not formulated or merely suggested I thought (? it's written correctly ?) the was no urge to go official ... I'll post something on http://www.suseitalia.org forum and see if any other people is interested ... -- .~. it may be interseting to have at least _one_ localized mailing list per localized wiki for the many users that do not read english. I usually add a note on the dowload page (french one) and similar to quote that developing is made in english. But other activities should not. hence the localised wikis :-) In my idéa, this localisez list should be advertised first on the communicate page jdd -- http://www.dodin.net Quelques images: http://dodin.org/galerie_photo_web/expo/index.html

Yes it would make a lot of sense to have a mailing list opensuse-<languagecode>@opensuse.org for each wiki language that is created. I don't see an issue if there are 5 post or 5000 posts for some languages. Peter 'Pflodo' Flodin.

We need to rethink of the mailinglist layout anyway. At the moment its pretty cluttered. Maybe i can make the new lists server listen to both lists.suse.com and lists.opensuse.org. Hello :-) Sonja, I expected to join the IRC meeting (feb 7), but I just have had a meeting with my students parents set at the very same hour :-( in fact I have little to say :-), I will read the summary. I only think there should be a forum/mailinglist/anything where wiki sysop could aks questions about the day to day sysop work. at present time I don't know who ask for answers and I'm not sure that all can be done through a wiki (aka public) page. thanks jdd -- http://www.dodin.net Quelques images: http://dodin.org/galerie_photo_web/expo/index.html

I don't have a problem with a opensuse-it@opensuse.org mailinglist (but won't understand the mails ;-) However, the list name is related to what should be handled on this list. - If it is planned as a list related to the openSUSE _project_, the adress @opensuse.org is fine. - If it is planned as "end user" list, maybe it should better be suse-linux-it@suse.com [1] Regards, Christian Boltz [1] Or are there any plans to migrate the lists @suse.com to opensuse.org? In this case, forget my mail ;-) -- An Standart (z.B. auf einem Bein stehend) halte ich relativ wenig fuer falsch. Das Wort wird nur sehr haeufig verwechselt mit Standard.
