Can anyone point me to some documentation about how to get started using PGP/GPG on a SuSE 7.1 system? The man page for gpg has some information, but I was looking for something that I could read that had a more system-level approach. On another subject, does anyone know if the PGP packages are available as Java libraries from someplace? Thanks, -ronc

If you have access to the Linux Journal, there were two articles in September/October issues (#89,90) * Paranoid Penguin GPG: the Best Free Crypto You Aren't Using, by Mick Bauer The article is not available online. -Kastus

Article 2 is still in the stores, I think. On September 25, 2001 06:47 pm, Landy Roman wrote:

Ron: There was an in-depth tutorial on GPG (sic) in the Linux Journal. Two-parter; August and September, I think. (Which, of course, isn't much help if you don't subscribe, I guess.) Sorry, Ron: A day late and a dollar short, as usual. I even guessed wron on which issues the article appeared in. It's a bit long to scan and send as an attachment, but I'd mail copies of both articles to you (if I can find both issues). http://www.gnupg.org/gph/en/manual.html is your best bet; it takes you through the whole process step-by-step. If you're using KDE 2.0, you can still use Geheimnis, but it doesn't seem to like KDE 2.2. A new (very nice) tool is the GNU Privacy Assistant; which does much the same thing; takes the donkeywork out of key management. I think it will be included in SuSE 7.3. (See http://www.gnupg.org/gpa.html) cheers, Gideon.
This is getting interesting, and I am now going to look into this myself. Maybe sometime soon we can all use PGP. On Tuesday 25 September 2001 11:22 pm, you wrote:
