Has anyone successed in running a Windows XP Pro partition in some kind of virtual machine, VMware or other? This is an older Intel CPU without virtualization hardware support. From /proc/cpuinfo:
it could work, using XP profile (?) management. I never used it, but was said that it's possible to teach XP to start with different hardware (may be to accomodate laptop stations) jdd -- http://www.dodin.net http://valerie.dodin.org http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t-eic8MSSfM http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1412160445 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

That was my experience with Windows 2000. It behaved much better than the Red Hat Linux of the time with changing hardware profiles. I never did succeed in configuring RH Linux to boot both real and virtual. Don't remember why I was doing this with RH and not SuSE. IIRC, the computer came with RH and Win2K and I added SuSE as the main host OS. However, this isn't getting as far as beginning to boot the guest OS.
