When I kill Xwindows with control-alt-backspace, it doesn't die cleanly (I use default runlevel 3). I have to use control-C to get a prompt back. The "who" command tells me I am logged in more times than I should be ("peter pts/0"). The command, "ps aux | grep peter" tells me that kdeinit is not getting shut down (nor is artsd): peter 13754 0.0 0.8 19540 6552 ? S 13:21 0:00 kdeinit: Running... peter 13757 0.0 0.8 19452 6784 ? S 13:21 0:00 kdeinit: dcopserver --nosid peter 13760 0.0 1.0 21476 7952 ? S 13:21 0:00 kdeinit: klauncher peter 13772 0.3 0.6 7612 5252 ? S 13:21 0:04 /opt/kde3//bin/artsd -F 10 -S 4096 -s 5 -m artsmessage -l 3 -f How do I fix this? In addition, for security reasons, I would like to log off as well as kill X if control-alt-backspace is pressed when the screensaver lock is on. Thanks, Peter Taylor
