I've downloaded the KDE 2.2 rpms from the SuSE site and tried to install them (being careful to do it from a mode 3 bootup in text mode). I get a bunch of dependency and conflict errors when I do the install on the files in the base subdirectory, though. I realize that I could force the installation by using the --force and --nodeps options of rpm, but that seems like an open invitation to trouble down the road. Is there a description somewhere of how to do a clean install of these packages (using rpm itself, not some Yast variant)? Are there errors that I can safely ignore or override? I currently have the 2.2beta2 version of kde installed. Paul

How about posting the exact errors here? That might make it easier to give you a hint :) LenZ -- ------------------------------------------------------------------ Lenz Grimmer SuSE GmbH mailto:grimmer@suse.de Schanzaeckerstr. 10 http://www.suse.de/~grimmer/ 90443 Nuernberg, Germany Reader not found, please notify tagline.

Huh? A newer version of that lib is included in kdelibs. You should update kdetoys to 2.2 final as well.

Ignore these conflicts with --force and make sure the following packages are installed: cups fam pcre openssl openldap2 bzip cyrus-sasl They should be part of a stock 7.2 distribution. Hope that helps! Hi Lenz, i have the same problem, so i have found in the old messages the answer to my problem, but it not works in my suystem (i have made a cut & paste to not make any error): root@gull:/home/masarn1/Downloads/Kde2/2.2.0/base > rpm -qf `locate libcrypto.so.0.9.6` rpm: no arguments given for query root@gull:/home/masarn1/Downloads/Kde2/2.2.0/base > Do you know where is the reason? Now, i tried to upgrade my openssl but in the folder of my version (7.0) i did not find it: can i use the 7.2 version or i have to go to the openssl site?
