Weird Glitch Mounting USB Hard Drive
Hi, I have 250 GB HD inside external box, which I connect via USB to SuSE 10.1 box. No matter what I did, I am was not able to mount it for the first time. After hard drive being connected to USB really nothing happens. I did 'mount usbvs', and called utility called usbview, which found only USB optical mouse. I did 'modprobe hfsplus' (the drive is formatted as HFS+ on Mac) and lanched YaST - Partitioner reveals nothing new, only SATA hard drive (dev/sda). I have checked - HAL was running. Swapping USB connection Mouse<->hard Drive did not changed anything. So, I restarted SuSE box with USB HD attached, and wow, it worked perfectly. I disconnected USB HD, restarted, and did hot-plug connect. Everything went fine again. Anyone have an idea what went wrong for the first time? May be because I have included hfsplus kernel module into initrd ramdisk everything works now?

Hi, sounds to me like you answered your own question pretty well? ;) You also gave me a hint there for something I'll have to try - since we are a university with 90% SUSE 10.1 here and currently have to do some data restoration off a Mac :) Greets, -- Benjamin Belau Support | IVV5 | Math | uni-muenster.de Tel.: (0251) 83-33754 http://wwwmath.uni-muenster.de/IVV
