Updating using YOU - problems (Also wget problems)
Hi Everybody, I am having trouble updating SLES 8 through YOU. My company has a firewall that blocks, well everything. There is a proxy server that is allowed internet access, which is running Novell BorderManager. The problem is that I have not yet figured out how to connect to the internet by using this proxy through Linux. Through windows there is no problem. On windows, when you log into the Novell network, it starts a little app called Novell Client Trust. When you now access the proxy, you are automatically authenticated. No password needed. Because this doesn't exist on Linux, access to the proxy fails, because the authentication criteria (what ever that is) is not met. At the end of the message there is an example using wget. Using the same .wgetrc under windows works fine, but under Linux it fails (see wget output at the end of the message) The "moved temporarily" occurs because Novell BorderManager could not automatically authenticate the user. Now it redirects the user to page to enter authentication information (user name and password). Putting this user name and password in .wgetrc using proxy_user and proxy_passwd does not help. Maybe someone knows some way to solve this issue. If not, what are my alternatives for updating the system. I have counted over 200 patches for SLES8, and I don't feel like downloading them one by one, and installing each.
