Hi all, I have a problem on my first suse installation. It is a 64bit amd processor and I cannot use yast2. When I run yast2 I get this error message: lnx01:~ # yast2 You need to install yast2-ncurses to use the YaST2 text mode interface lnx01:~ # rpm -q yast2-ncurses yast2-ncurses-2.13.27-3 lnx01:~ # rpm -q yast2 yast2-2.13.54-5 using strace I fount that yast2 is looking for plug-ins in the wrong directory: it uses /usr/lib/YaST2/plugin directory while all plug-ins are installed in /usr/lib64/YaST2/plugin. What should I do in order to fix it? lets urs system come to know the exact locations of LIBS or needs to export LD_LIBRARY_PATH or modify the /etc/ld.so.conf and make the 64 bit libs path availbale to it. it wil sort urs prob. Giuseppe Sacco wrote:

Hi Giuseppe,
does /usr/lib/YaST2/plugin exist? - If not, I'd try the
following workaround:
create a symbolic link in the directory /usr/lib/YaST2
ln -s /usr/lib64/YaST2/plugin plugin
if /usr/lib/YaST2 does not exist, create it.
Maybe someone else knows how to configure YaST2 to use
the correct diretory, but if you need to gon on with
your work quickly this might help for now.
Regards,
Michael

Maybe you have some i586 packages of yast2 installed instead of x86_64 or noarch packages? What does the following command output: rpm -qa --queryformat '%{NAME}.%{ARCH}\n' | grep yast2 Andreas Hanke --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Hi, did you perform an online update after installation? There are some older hints in German newsgroups (< Version 10.0) having this issue after performing an update. They reinstalled Yast from CD/DVD after this again to get it back working (I will have to set up an SuSE 64-Bit System in office in two weeks, so I am really intersted how this issue is solved). Regards, Michael

Yes, I did. I then had a lot of problems with zmd (it blocked yast) and reinstalled yast2 from original media.
