- wait (up to 5 minutes)
- gui login does not return
- ctrl-alt-f1
- root can login
- init 1
- crtl-D
- init 5
- wait forever
- press power button

I have tried without the gnome keyring stuff. No change.

- works fine with kdm
- not with lxdm
