[opensuse] laptop does not return to login screen after logout
13.1 lxde After logging out, the only way to proceed to a new login screen is to press the power button and restart. I've tried logging in as root on a console and issuing init 5, but nothing. I've put the log here: https://db.tt/oeqO2hS1 Any ideas why we can't log in again after a logout? Could you give more details? After you log out, what happens? Are you presented with GUI login screen, empty screen, command line login prompt? You say "press power button" but then "logging as root on console"; so it is possible to log as root? Because "press power button" sounds like system is completely frozen.

At which point you took it? Was it after you logged out?
Any ideas why we can't log in again after a logout? Thanks, L x

Hi - log out - wait (up to 5 minutes) - gui login does not return - ctrl-alt-f1 - root can login - init 1 - crtl-D - init 5 - wait forever - press power button > > > I've put the log here: > > https://db.tt/oeqO2hS1 > > > > At which point you took it? Was it after you logged out? - empty /var/log/messages - switch on - log out - press power button twice - log in - post /var/log/messages pam: auth required pam_env.so auth optional pam_gnome_keyring.so auth sufficient pam_unix2.so use_first_pass auth sufficient pam_sss.so use_first_pass session required pam_limits.so session required pam_unix2.so session optional pam_sss.so session optional pam_umask.so session optional pam_systemd.so session optional pam_gnome_keyring.so auto_start only_if=gdm,gdm-password,lxdm,lightdm I have tried without the gnome keyring stuff. No change. - works fine with kdm - not with lxdm Thanks, L x -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
