[opensuse] Network Manager not working in Opensuse 11.3
I can use my wireless card configured manually. However, when I try to switch to the network manager I get the following error message from yast. "No network running" I have checked the system messages (F10) and see the following messages: NetworkMananger: supplicant_interface_acquire: assertion 'mgr_state == NM_SUPPLICANT_MANAGER_STATE_IDLE' failed kernel: [1454.683069] iwl3945 0000:02:00.0: Failed to get channel info for channel 140 [0] The kernel message is repeated every minute. This laptop is not new and the network manager was working in opensuse 11.2. I have tried KNM and GNM with the same result. Does anyone know what is wrong and how to fix it or should I file a bug report (if one hasn't been filed already)? Do you get the icon in the system tray in KDE? If so, you must right click to get a menu. Then select the wireless access point that you want to connect to. Until you do this, there will indeed be no network running. -- Roger Oberholtzer OPQ Systems / Ramböll RST Ramböll Sverige AB Krukmakargatan 21 P.O. Do you have a wireless card whose firmware is in package kernel-firmware? I had this behaviour on one of our Touchsmarts that had a Ralink wifi card. You could try installing it if you are not sure, it won't hurt, and reboot.
