RE: [SLE] Mozilla upgrade from version 0.9.4-4 to 1.0 w/apt4rpm.
thor:/home/brian # apt-get -f install Reading Package Lists... Done Building Dependency Tree... Done Correcting dependencies... Done The following packages will be REMOVED: java2 0 packages upgraded, 0 newly installed, 1 to remove(replace) and 464 not upgraded. Need to get 0B of archives. After unpacking 58.7MB will be freed. Do you want to continue? [Y/n]
I think that "464 not upgraded" line is a big red flag indicating apt hasn't been synched properly with your RPM database. Before you mess with mozilla, and provided you have sufficient bandwidth, I'd try "apt-get -d upgrade" to download and see what needs updating. Or, if you don't wish to download 464 packages, try "apt-get -S upgrade" and see what apt wants to do with your system first. Initially apt can be a pain, especially if it's out of synch with the rest of the distribution. But once you get caught up you won't be able to live without it. In apt we trust. -jrh

Here are the results of "apt-get -S upgrade": thor:/home/brian # apt-get -S upgrade Reading Package Lists... Done Building Dependency Tree... Done You might want to run `apt-get -f install' to correct these. Sorry, but the following packages have unmet dependencies: java2: Depends: libodbc.so but it is not installable Depends: libodbcinst.so but it is not installable E: Unmet dependencies. Try using -f. - Initially apt can be a pain, especially if it's out of synch with the rest - of the distribution. But once you get caught up you won't be able to live - without it. That is what I am hoping, but I prefer to take it one step at a time and learn the "feel" of apt before I go "whole hog". - In apt we trust. Not yet, but hopefully I'll get there ;-) Cheers, Brian
