Upgrade to KDE 3.0.3 with apt-get...should I?
I got apt-get a couple days ago and love it. I would like to upgrade from KDE 3.0.0 (Suse 8) to KDE 3.0.3 and I'm wondering if I should use apt-get to do it? Has anyone had successes or failures? Thanks, Tom
I've used apt-get to update my Linux box in the office since I did a fresh install of 8.0 on it. It works like a charm. I had to install the LaTeX pkgs from 7.3 onto 8.0 because the version of LaTeX wasn't working right with muttprint and I have apt ignore those packages when upgrading and it hasn't screwed up yet. I've had very good luck upgrading KDE from 3.0 to 3.0.1 ..etc..etc. I REALLY wish SuSE would switch over to this. It never failed me on any (KDE) update. Just go ahead, do it :-) Marcel
Did it yesterday and it worked like a charm!! I had to make a couple simple modifications, but nothing a newbie like myself couldn't handle. What's you opinion on upgrading the yast options?? Do I need to do anything special after upgrading the yast files?? Like I said, it never failed me on ANY update. Just always run SuSEconfig afterwards (you can automate that, see the website). Marcel
