Hello OpenSuSE list - In trying to solve one problem I encountered yet another problem! (Sigh story of my life!) I have a profile/account on https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/ and when I try to log in I am getting a bizarre error response -
"There is already an account with the login name marc@marcchamberlin.com." Of course there is already an account for me, and I am trying to log in with it! WTF! I cannot find any link that would allow me to report this issue to the maintainers of the bugzilla web site (no feedback link). So I turn to this list hoping some kind guru can help me solve this Catch 22.
One other anomaly I observed, when making a change to my profile I got told - "Login to profile is not available for employees yet." Since I am not an employee I simply ignore it, but this message does keep popping up. Thanks as always, in advance, for any help or ideas offered. Going to https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/ , it seems I am still logged in. Above the "Welcome to Bugzilla" is a box containing: "SUSE Bugzilla has been upgraded to the version 5.0.6 recently. If you experience any difficulties or find any issues, please, report to _SUSE_Bugzilla_Team_ <bugzilla-admins@suse.com>" And..., after logging out, the same message is still there. The Log In link is labeled "openSUSE_IDP Log In". After trying to login with an incorrect username, I get: "Incorrect username or password Either no user with the given username could be found, or the password you gave was wrong. Please check the username and try again." Giving the correct login, it's back to the welcome page, as I started. So, everything works normally for me. When I had logged out, though, there was a message about the login cookie having been deleted. Maybe you have some funky cookie. You could try deleting them.
One other anomaly I observed, when making a change to my profile I got told - "Login to profile is not available for employees yet." Since I am not an employee I simply ignore it, but this message does keep popping up.

The problem with BZ is it belongs to SUSE, not openSUSE. We have no direct control over it, and problematic unreliable indirect control.

This is a problem I've encountered too many times, involving cookies and same login working for various opensuse servers that has happened to several of us over the years, e.g. reports I made: https://progress.opensuse.org/issues/113069 https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=879770 (private) https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1172619 Clearing all cookies for opensuse.org may be all you need to do. Using a different browser profile or browser should work also. Sometimes just trying again a day later has worked. If you can't resolve it on your own, email admin@opensuse.org asking for help. -- Evolution as taught in public schools is, like religion, based on faith, not based on science. Team OS/2 ** Reg. I usually clear *suse.com too.
I don't like searching bloated browser history, so should never have any to clear: # grep a.suse.com /etc/hosts 0.0.0.0 bugzilla.suse.com # :) -- Evolution as taught in public schools is, like religion, based on faith, not based on science. Your hatred of suse.com is irrelevant and has absolutely nothing to do with how redirections may work inside of SUSE infrastructure.

Generically, suse.com is not the issue. However, bugzilla.suse.com bug URLs in the context of public opensuse.org business is an issue. It says to the world we don't know what our identity is, or don't have one of our own, or it's OpenSuSE, or Opensuse, or whatever the writer wants it to be. Blocking bugzilla.suse.com is apparently relevant to keeping suse.com cookies from playing any part in login problems on opensuse.org. I haven't had login problems in a long time, probably since adding that line to hosts. -- Evolution as taught in public schools is, like religion, based on faith, not based on science. Thanks everyone for your thoughts, clearing cookies didn't help, so I have sent an email to the administrators asking for help. Hopefully they will get back to me soon and fix the issue. Marc.... On 6/17/23 18:51, Felix Miata wrote:

I sent an email to bugzilla-admins@suse.com regarding my inability to log in. IMHO there should be a feedback link on the bottom of every page in bugzilla where issues with the website or bugzilla itself can be reported. Marc... On 6/18/23 10:35, Georg Pfuetzenreuter via openSUSE Users wrote:

I see the same message upon clicking the Account Information tab, which brings me to the "Your profile" login page. The login does work and the message repeats. I guess we are supposed to be impressed that we have privileges that SUSE employees do not. ;-) -- Robert Webb
This message causes repeated confusion with users - it's formatted like an error message, albeit it merely being an informational statement for employees hinting they are in the wrong place. There's an internal ticket for making it more user friendly. On 6/18/23 04:23, Robert Webb via openSUSE Users wrote:
