[S.u.S.E. Linux] Ethernet install
I installed a Linksys 10/100 PCI card last night, ran YaST to install the driver. I did an "ifconfig eth0" and got the following response: (this is subject to typhos, since I am on my first install and the box is as yet standalone, so I'm typing it in) Link encap:10Mbps Ethernet HWaddr 00:20:78:14:63:4C inet addr:0.0.0.0 Bcast:0.0.0.0 Mask 0.0.0.0 BROADCAST MULTICAST MTU:1500 METRIC:1 RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 Interrupt:9 Base address:0x6400 Pardon my ignorance, but does this constitute success? No. It is not a success yet. The IP addess, broadcast address and netmask have to be provided. Once you have them defined, you are host is setup to be on the network. Subba Rao subb3@ibm.net Tim Hanson wrote:
