Install Firefox 1.0 in Suse 9.1 Pro
I downloaded the tarball from the mozilla web site for FF 1.0 and I tried to install it. It installed ok, the dir I installed it to is /home/username/bin, but when I try to start FF it fails to start and complains about no display. Itried it also from Run screen in KDE and it failed to start. Thanks for any pointers on how to get FF 1.0 running in SUSE 9.1 Keith

How come this wasn't added to YOU? Seems a bit odd I guess. And what about the translations file in the same dir, is that needed as well?

apt-get install MozillaFirefox ;) Or, you can get the RPM from ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/mozilla/firefox/1.0/9.1-i386 if you're on a 32 bit platform or ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/mozilla/firefox/1.0/9.1-x86_64 if you're on a 64 bit platform. -- James Ogley james@usr-local-bin.org GNOME for SuSE: http://usr-local-bin.org/rpms

I have FF1.0 running with no probs - this is what I did: 1. install into /opt/firefox - as root. 2. I run it using "Run command" - /opt/firefox/firefox. The only extra thing I did was add the symbolic link to my java plugin. /home/username/bin is a slightly odd place, but it shouldn't matter. Which user did you install it as, and which user are you trying to run it with? When you run it, is the DISPLAY variable set? /Per Jessen, Zürich -- http://www.spamchek.com/freetrial - sign up for your free 30-day trial now! http://www.spamchek.de/freetrial - jetzt für 30 Tage ausprobieren - kostenlos und unverbindlich! http://www.spamchek.dk/freetrial - 30 dages gratis prøvetid - helt uden forpligtelser!
