I've been away from SUSE for over a couple of months (long story!), so apologies if this has been asked before. I have Googled and looked in the mailing list archives, so have tried to do my homework. After re-installing SUSE 10.0, I installed apt/Synaptic and tried to upgrade the default KDE 3.4.2 to 3.5.1 (or later), as I have done before. However, there don't appear to be the later KDE packages in the apt repositories, as there were before. Have they been removed? If they have, can KDE be found anywhere and upgraded with Synaptic? Many thanks for any information, and again, sorry if this has been asked before. Hello Gerrit Thank you for your reply and help. Sorry, but I can't get KDE upgraded. I have tried many times to add an installation source to YAST, as given in the URL you gave me. I have followed the instructions very carefully. I have also Googled to try to find the problem and to try alternatives. But each time I get the error message: ERROR (InstSrc:E_no_instrc_on_media) I have tried various ways of splitting up the URL between the Server and Directory boxes. Nothing works, and I have come to a standstill, not knowing what to do next. I can't get Smart to work either! This is the first time I have tried to add an installation source to YAST (or use Smart). The 10.0 manual is of no help whatever to me in explaining exactly how an HTTP source should be split up between Server and Directory. I could download and install each of the KDE packages individually from "software.opensuse.org", but that would take a long time. I'm sorry to trouble you, but please could you tell me *exactly* what to put in the two Add installation Sources boxes? Thanks for your reply, Pete, and the information. I've not used wget, so will investigate it. Up to now, I have stuck with YAST for the SUSE upgrades, Synaptic for the others and, occasionally, manually downloading an rpm, using -Uvh to install it. Try adding this link as a URL source -NOT- ftp of http source: http://ftp-1.gwdg.de/pub/opensuse/repositories/KDE:/KDE3/SUSE_Linux_10.0/
I can't get Smart to work either!

Ken, Thank you for the information, it is appreciated. I now have KDE 3.5.3 installed and it's running well. Also I have now got Smart running.
