Change Source Of Installation To Local Directory
Hello I have SLES 9 and I want to copy the CDs to the harddrive so that I can install new software remotely without putting the CDs in. Is there a good way to do this besides somehow copying all the rpms into one big directory because yast does not seem to pick up CD3-6 as seperate directories and cds. Also on a similar note is there a config file that contains the configuration for the yast2 installation sources. Thank You. -Ian

Well suprise suprise I answered my own question. Apparently it was easier than expected. I just copied all of the first cd and second cd into /usr/src/CD1 and /usr/src/CD2. Then copied the file media2 from the third cd into /usr/src/CD2/. Then copied the file media3 from the fourth cd into /usr/src/CD2/. Then copied the file media4 from the fifth cd into /usr/src/CD2/. Then copied the file media5 from the sixth cd into /usr/src/CD2/. Then copied the directory contents of suse from the third cd into /usr/src/CD2/suse/. Then copied the directory contents of suse from the fourth cd into /usr/src/CD2/suse/. Then copied the directory contents of suse from the fifth cd into /usr/src/CD2/suse/. Then copied the directory contents of suse from the sixth cd into /usr/src/CD2/suse/. Then I added /usr/src/CD1 and /usr/src/CD2 as installation sources in yast2. And now I don't have to put the CDs in every time I forget something. Still not sure how suse config stores where the installation sources are. -Ian

There's info on doing this, in the SuSE 9.x Admin Guide. I'd expect it would also work with SLES.
