KMail (mis?)behaviour in KDE3.1
Just a question... I've updated my 8.1 install to KDE3.1 and everything is almost working. The new KMail is generally working fine, but I have noticed that with some senders on the SuSE list, I do not get any headers displayed... especially from KMcLauchlan. I see the message, but all header information refuses to display in KMail1.5(?) Anyone else have this oddity? C.

No, I seem to be seeing all headers from Kevin ... but I'll keep an eye out.

Hmm. I'm subscribed to the list from both my home and my employer's office. At home, I use SuSE 8.1 and KMail exclusively. At the office, I alternate between SuSE 8.0 (KMail again) and Win NT with the dreaded MSOutlook. Maybe it's Outlook that's giving grief to some mail readers? I know that when I'm booted in Linux and using KMail at the office, I've received a few messages from my boss that had apparent dates of December 31, 1969.... and she (like everybody in the company) uses Outlook exclusively. Just a thought. /kevin

Well, I haven't found a solution yet in my serching at the kde.org lists and other places... but, this email from you Kevin has all the headers in their proper places. I see from the headers that you sent this message from KMail 1.4.3 this time. So.... your theory probably is more like fact. No one I know off list is unfortunate enough to be using Outlook.. some are using Outlook Express, but I haven't had any problems with missing headers on thier emails... I have noticed one or two other list contributors that also have missing headers in my install of KMail 1.5.0 so it's not just you Kevin ;-) Anyway, it's not too big of a deal, but it still have me wondering what it is about the mail header that makes KMail refuse to display it. I know someone who uses Outlook that always has an annoying 'attachment', winmail.dat, that comes with every message. i found on the web it is something to do with Outlook. Maybe this is the header problem with Kmail. I have done the upgrade, so I went and checked specifically the messages I already have "on file" from KMcLauchlan and it "works for me" -- I have kmail set to "display fancy headers" if that makes any difference. Does the KDE group maintain a list for discussing Kmail? I have some other "issues" with the 1.5 upgrade, but I'd rather get them to a group more focused on KDE/kmail than SuSE in general...

Same here, I have fancy headers as well. I can change it to any other header view and still have the same problem. This isn't the only minor issue I have... most things work, it's just a couple small things. Some apps that worked fine in 3.0.x like KSensors or KBear now segfault. When exiting Konqueror (either as a browser of file manager) I get a SIGSEGV. I wiped out .kde and all the other kde related config files and restarted, but it's all still there. Time to go poking around in the KDE lists I think.

Take a look at http://www.kde.org/mailinglists.html for a lost of KDE groups. That's where I'm taking my questions about the segfaults and the KMail header thing. If I find out anything I'll post back here (if I remember) incase anyone else is having some minor problems like this. C.
