[SLE] Linuxconf screwed up my settings
I downloaded linuxconf from the suse web site and installed it. I looked at it and thought I made no changes, but when I came to boot up this morning, linux wouldn't start. I got a bunch of questions and tried every which way to answer them. It always hung at a point where it said it was running some sysvinit scripts and then a few garbage characters, done, and some more garbage. I can boot a rescue system but I don't know where to go from there. Okay, i used the rescue system and wiped out what I could find of linuxconf, but in the process I wiped out my ability to use the mouse. It won't work in SaX, and i used xf86config to fix the settings but the mouse still doesn't work. Any suggestions? And SuSE, why would you put something on your web site that would do this? -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/

Hmm, I do not remember, that we ship linuxconf as a package. Where exactly did you get it from? Maybe you found it in the contrib section? There is a big "NO SUPPORT" disclaimer for this section, IIRC... Does the symbolic link "/dev/mouse" point to the correct mouse device? Try to reconfigure the mouse with YaST. <rant> ACK!! I would hope to GOD that the linuxconf beast is NOT part of ANY SuSE distro, now or in the future! I have a lotta respect for SuSE and I wouldn't wanna lose it now! </rant> Thank you, drive through! ----- Original Message ----- From: "Lenz Grimmer" <grimmer@suse.de> To: <suse-linux-e@suse.com> Sent: 04 February 2000, Friday 00:42 Subject: Re: [SLE] Linuxconf screwed up my settings | Hi, | | On Thu, 3 Feb 2000, Bob Rea wrote: | | > Okay, i used the rescue system and wiped out what I could find of | > linuxconf, but in the process I wiped out my ability to use the mouse. | > It won't work in SaX, and i used xf86config to fix the settings but | > the mouse still doesn't work. Hi, I have a hard disk paritioned for NT and SuSE...........2.1 GB per partition. When I am using Linux, I want to be able to look into the other side of the partition, ie, into the NTFS partition. Is there any possibility or a possible way to do so ??
