[opensuse] Program to autoexecute html page on dvd/cd
Dear all, I'm a newbie at linux and I've just installed open SUSE 10.2 on my system. Does anyone know of a program that will automatically execute html page when a dvd/cd containing the page is inserted into the ODD? Previously I've used shellexec on windows. Thanks for the help. -- Anri A. Execute HTML? One does not execute html, one views it with a browser. You simply point your web browser (or Kongueror) at the dvd and from the list of files click on the html file you want to view. Most of the time you just put the disk in the drive an close the door and a pop up will ask what you want to do. Select open in new window. File browser shows the content, click on the one you want to view. If given a choice, start with index.html. Perhaps I don't understand the problem. Even windows works the same way, no need to use shellexecute. -- _____________________________________ John Andersen

I think you'll find he wants Firefox ect to open automatically and display index.html (or .php) Your correct regarding the 'Program Chooser' but unless you know its HTML based (and if you're not apps literate) you may not know which program to choose, I know that sounds incredible. -- Regards Dick Turpin "At these prices I'm mugging myself mate!" -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Well, for folks new to Linux that is a common problem. -- _____________________________________ John Andersen -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Not just Linux :-) -- Regards Peter cannon "There is every excuse for not knowing There is no excuse for not asking" -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
Basically as I remember, under Windows there is a file autorun.inf on DVD/CD root directory, which Windows checks for, when the disc is insterted, and if it is present, it runs the program indicated in that file (typically starting the setup program or opening a particular HTML file). I understand the OP is looking for similar functionality under KDE/Gnome. On 29/03/07, Peter Cannon <peter@cannon-linux.co.uk> wrote:
