[opensuse] google search result links again
Hello: Earlier I complained about google search result links giving mystic redirection links. (http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse/2011-12/msg00186.html) Someone then suggested turning off javascript and it worked. Today I tried to copy to the clipboard a google search link but again a redirection link was the result. I checked my browser (opera 10.61) settings for google site and javascript is turned off. Have google changed something recently? How could I get the normal link URLs? Thanks, Istvan -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I have the same symptoms and I assume that google have changed something. I wrote and asked them to un-change it! The only ways to get the real URL now that I can think of are: (1) click on the link and then extract it from the browsers location bar (2) copy the link from the google page and edit it -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Thanks, I know I could do this. Option 1) then tracks you, option 2) is cumbersome. I am fed with google recently and avoid using it. It is not only tracking but the several annoyances they introduced. Eg. when you do an advanced search and want to go back to the start again you have to click the gear in the right upper corner select advanced and click it. Earlier the page had an "advanced search" link just below the query bar. In advance search you can not specify exact dates or time periods, only one day, one weak, one month, one year. It is ridiculous. It was different a few years ago. The most important that one can not search for exact expressions like "$ * shows the" because google redefines the query terms (it knows better what you want to search for). I am more and more frequently use startpage.com (suggested by someone on this list). It still gives the direct url. Unfortunately it can not find everything that google can, which is strange since they claim they use google engine too. But "google is your friend", doncha know! As a "friend" they are very concerned about you and follow you to make sure that no harm comes to you! Just another comment on the above to what I wrote earlier in a jocular manner. I just got rid of google as a search engine and replaced it with Ask (ask.com) in my Firefox. google has become anther NSA but unlike NSA who do the snooping covertly google does it overtly and without a hint of a blush -- and everyone just simply allows it to do it without a whimper :-( .
