Hi all! I'm having trouble with installing MySQL. I'm running SuSE 8.0 and I'm installing MySQL from the 8.0 distribution. For postinstallation I have tried to follow the instructiuons in the /usr/share/doc/packages/mysql/README.SuSE. MySQL didn't start. then I deinstalled MySQL an installed it again. This time I tried to follow the instructions in the MySQL manual. That doesn't work either. Before going into details what's wrong I want to know what is the correct way to install and to set up MySQL. Then I will follow those instructions and if somethings go wrong I will come back to ask for more specific help. TIA Nils-Olov

Now to start it(not as root!)...you use the following:
$ <shell>
$ rcmysql start
