[By "Nicolas Scaut"] Hard disk limit
I've never seen a reply for this query at the list (see below). I don't know the sender; If he was newcomer to the list, I guess he disappointed at the start point! Excuse me... In addition to the pity, the subject attracts me. Advanced users are requested to reply (publicly). Thank you for your notice, Bahram Alinezhad, Rudehen, Tehran, Iran. When I create a logical disk (with the RAID manager) of 1.5T, I can't use it with Suse (whatever the partitions I choose or the file system I choose). When I create a logical drive of 700 Go, there is no problem (I can create a partition of 700 Go) So is exist a hard disk size limit because I don't understand why I can't create a partition of 200Go on a hard disk of 1.5T. I have mounted a 270 G partition without problems (RAID 5, Reiserfs). Make sure that you have a kernel compiled fith large file support and things alike (LVM and raid options). I would first check whether the raid array itself functions properly (man mdadm), then fsck that particular partition (!unmounted!), and if that doesn't help, I would probably try to rebuild the possibly corrupted log file (if you use xfs), then run fsck again (xfsck or something similar in the case of xfs) and then finally try to mount it again. Naturally, I would make sure to mount it with adequate options. If all that yealded nil success, I would send another email to the list.

I think the original message said he had done 700 GB succesfully. It was truly large filesystems he could not get to work. I have a 4-disk 3ware card I can experiment with and my local Costco is selling 250 GB Maxtor drives for $135. Maybe I will buy 4 of them and try a 1 TB filesystem. (Not bad for under $1000 including the 3ware card.) I think 3ware only supports 1 TB anyway. Above that you have to use md, lvm, etc. to add your storage pieces together. Greg
