Here is the /etc/printcap I use for printing to an HP2100m, also connected via network... laserjet|remote printer on 192.168.0.16:\ :sd=/var/spool/lpd/laserjet:\ :rm=192.168.0.16:\ :rp=lp:\ :bk:sh:mx#0: ### BEGIN apsfilter: ### PS_hplj letter mono 1200 ### # Warning: Configured for apsfilter, do not edit the labels! # apsfilter setup Sun Jun 24 07:26:51 CDT 2001 # ascii|lp1|PS_hplj-letter-ascii-mono-1200|PS_hplj letter ascii mono 1200:\ :lp=/dev/null:\ :sd=/var/spool/lpd/PS_hplj-letter-ascii-mono-1200:\ :lf=/var/spool/lpd/PS_hplj-letter-ascii-mono-1200/log:\ :af=/var/spool/lpd/PS_hplj-letter-ascii-mono-1200/acct:\ :if=/var/lib/apsfilter/bin/PS_hplj-letter-ascii-mono-1200:\ :la@:mx#0:\ :tr=:cl:sh: # lp|lp2|PS_hplj-letter-auto-mono-1200|PS_hplj letter auto mono 1200:\ :lp=/dev/null:\ :sd=/var/spool/lpd/PS_hplj-letter-auto-mono-1200:\ :lf=/var/spool/lpd/PS_hplj-letter-auto-mono-1200/log:\ :af=/var/spool/lpd/PS_hplj-letter-auto-mono-1200/acct:\ :if=/var/lib/apsfilter/bin/PS_hplj-letter-auto-mono-1200:\ :la@:mx#0:\ :tr=:cl:sh: # raw|lp3|PS_hplj-letter-raw|PS_hplj letter raw:\ :lp=/dev/null:\ :sd=/var/spool/lpd/PS_hplj-letter-raw:\ :lf=/var/spool/lpd/PS_hplj-letter-raw/log:\ :af=/var/spool/lpd/PS_hplj-letter-raw/acct:\ :if=/var/lib/apsfilter/bin/PS_hplj-letter-raw:\ :la@:mx#0:\ :tr=:cl:sh: # ### END apsfilter: ### PS_hplj letter mono 1200 ### -- ____________________________________________________________________ Robert Paulsen paulsen@texas.net

Well, I can confirm that printing to a print-server does NOT work very well with SuSE Linux 7.3. The included lprold and cups setups seem to lack something. I am trying to print with an HP930C connected to my LAN trough a D-Link DP-101 printserver. Cat5 ethernet used. Best regards, David List

Thanks for the reply. after uninstalling an reinstalling lprold i get it work but its not working all the time yet. It was working perfectly in 7.2. I just wished i had remember to make a backup copy of the printcap file from 7.2, i forgot that one when i was making some backup off config files.
