What have happend to my system? Opensuse 11.1. It is only my shell - konsoll - that act like this, x-term looks fine. It is the same if I use KDE 3 - KDE 4 or Gnome. Someone with a clue out there. Gunnar
There may be a problem with your X Window System or KDE Display/Konsole... Isn't Konsole only for KDE? For Gnome, you use the Gnome Terminal; I think it's x-term? Or is it something else? Try reinstalling Konsole... Allen Zhu allen.jaloola@gmail.com Paula Poundstone - "I don't have a bank account because I don't know my mother's maiden name." KDE programs works fine under Gnome and vise versa as long as you have the libraries installed. Charles -- "The move was on to 'Free the Lizard'" -- Jim Hamerly and Tom Paquin (Open Sources, 1999 O'Reilly and Associates)
True, I know that perfectly fine and sometimes even run Amarok, games, etc. under GNOME... But, if Konsole is having a problem, why don't you just use the GNOME Terminal, xterm, if it runs fine?? Sorry but you are confusing me with the OP- I am just commenting that apps from both emvironments can work in both. My XTerm of choice is actually Terminal.app (a GNUstep app) from the GAP project. I have solved my problem with konsoll,I changed the type to Cursor, and now it works fine. But I still have problem with some program. I have used Picasa under Opensuse 10. and up, but now on Opensuse 11.1 it can not get it to work. It install fine, first start is ok, it finds my pictures im my /home/ folder. When I try to get picasas to use other folder, it seem to use up all memory, it spin the harddrive, I have to use -ctrl del backspace- to stop it. And then start the PC again. I have tried Picasa2 and Picasa3, with the same problem. I found out that I have installed wine, and Picasa did not liked this. I still have problem with fonts and Picasa3, but Picasa2 is ok. Close inspection reveals that the fonts looks mostly correct, and that most of the undesirable pixels are "video artifacts". If the error is persistent or otherwise reproducible, a bug is definitely in order. Isn't Konsole only for KDE?

I don't think is is a KDE library problem (as long as the OP did not do something weird to KDE manually). I personally don't use Konsole. however everything is displayed correctly with I fired it up. Something else is going on here. Maybe it is a compiz problem? I don't use it or have it installed so I can't verify. Do you mean Konsole as in the KDE program or a virtual console?
It is the same if I use KDE 3 - KDE 4 or Gnome. Someone with a clue out there.
It looks like the font you are using does not support your locale, try another font. For Konsole it is under "Appearance" when you edit the profile, Charles -- We are MicroSoft. You will be assimilated. Resistance is futile. (Attributed to B.G., Gill Bates)

I’ve had a similar problem occasionally. It appeared more often with Java applications than with konsole. The problem only appeared with an old AGP nVidia GEForce4 card and the proprietary drivers installed. A solution was to disable nVidia. What I actually did was use alternative applications, like gnome-terminal instead of konsole. -- JDL -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
